International Format Awards 2025 finalists revealed, Gold Award announced

The finalists in the International Format Awards 2025 have been unveiled, following online voting by a panel of the world’s leading format commissioners, buyers and producers.

The International Format Awards are a coproduction between C21Media, FRAPA, the Entertainment Masterclass and Mipcom.

The awards will be presented between 17.30 and 19.00 on Sunday October 12 at Hyde Beach Club in Cannes, ahead of Mipcom.

This year’s International Formats Business Gold Award will be presented to Phil Gurin, president and CEO of The Gurin Company and TGC Global Entertainment and outgoing chair of FRAPA.

With a career spanning more than 3,000 hours of television seen in over 185 countries, Gurin has contributed to the producing, writing or creation of a vast array of formats and specials. He is known for his exceptional ability to create, acquire, sell, produce and distribute entertainment programmes across the globe.

Gurin has also been a tireless advocate for the protection of format rights. He has served on the board of FRAPA for 16 years, 10 of those as chair. The Gold Business Award celebrates not just Gurin’s creative track record but his leadership in strengthening the rights framework that underpins the entire format business.
